- The lectures were't connected to class content that much

1. I think the lectures could have had a little more student involvement in them. There was opportunities to ask some questions, but often there was little involvement by student outside of the attendences quizzes. Integrating some of the student activity to the the class would be great. 2. I also think that shifting the time to a 3 days a week class, instead of 2 days of week, would lend itself better to the lecture style of the class.

Having some more project-type assignments in between the redesign and final project might have been helpful.

I think I would have enjoyed more focus on the math aspects of things, like in the beginning of the course

I think the 3A block is too long, and many students do not feel the need to engage with the material as deeply since evaluation is infrequent

I think it felt a little overly technical at times.

I think that deadlines often fell very close to each other. The redesign project is the main one that I remember and although it's due date got moved back, I had already completed the assignment since I had more to do which I thought was unfair. There should have been some benefit to turning it in on time.

I think that the project is maybe too open ended and was overly ambitious for those of us with 0 HCI experience

More real-world case studies: more examples of HCI design challenges from actual products or research could help connect theory to practice.

- Assignments and projects were effective it taught me how concepts were applied in real life

I enjoyed the in class quizzes because they showed me where there were gaps in my knowledge. I also enjoyed the lectures, I felt that they were engaging. Assignments were relevant, though a lot of work at times, but still helpful and reinforced class information.

I think it was great that the assignments were very concentrated, meaning that Nikhil and the TA's valued substance over long responses. I think that this helped me to learn the concepts better and allowed me to focus on what mattered.

The assignments were a great way to both reinforce the material we learned in class, while also expand to what actual work in HCI will look like. I especially enjoyed the redesign and final project because it gave to lenses to view work in HCI. I especially liked the research focus of the class and think I can apply what I learned to other areas.

The problem sets were a good reinforcement of class material, and the two projects appeared daunting at first but were manageable and fun. Course feedback was consistently timely and helpful. Although I did not expect such a strong research focus at first from an HCI class, I am very glad that the course took that direction.

Good graduate student seminar structure on the overview of HCI. HCI is a wide field, so this course did a good job of introducing me to the venues and subfields where HCI work happens.

The mix of lectures, discussions, and in-class activities helped reinforce the concepts and made learning interactive and engaging.

The short assignments, though not always so short, really helped me practice some of the concepts we talked about in class, which otherwise were a little hard to conceptualize, but assignments hammered it home.

The syllabus was very broad and covered a lot of material. The resources were up to date and many of the research papers were from very recent publications and relevant.

I discussed concepts with friends when I didn't understand something and we helped keep each other accountable by checking in on each other to make sure we were submitting assignments on time.

I found it to be well paced, some deadline collision within this class but overall not too bad. Very nice to have the final project due after the end of the term.

I found the pace of the course to be well-balanced. The lectures moved quickly enough to stay engaging, but there was sufficient time during discussions and assignments to digest complex topics and apply concepts in hands-on projects.

I found the pace to be a little fast initially but not completely unreasonable. I would say it was doable and he did give extensions to others when needed.

The TA I had assigned to grade my midterm project was slower than the TAs assigned to my friends in the class.

The course staff were very helpful and approachable; the TAs gave concrete, actionable feedback on prototypes and study designs during office hours and in written comments, which often helped us refine our ideas.

There were many TAs therefore we had access to help whenever we needed. Noah Schaffer was very helpful as he was available during the weekends.
